Success With New Year's ResolutionsJohn Satterfield is a certified hypnotherapist practicing in Mountain View. He specializes in helping clients have success with stopping smoking and losing weight You can reach him by telephone at 870-269-6811 Also get his free report "Never Be Lied To Again" at www.hypnosisucanuse.comEach year you set new goals, probably concerning weight loss or stopping smoking. They're certainly worthy goals and you really mean to accomplish them but year after year the enthusiasm seems to soon fade and the focus gets fuzzy and within a matter of weeks (days?) those good intentions are just like your dirty socks, thrown in a corner and forgotten. Here's a little tactic that can help you really achieve those new years resolutions and more in 2005. Before I share this technique with you please realize that your success or failure happens first and foremost in your mind.

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. If you can keep excited about your goal you will be far more likely to achieve it. So lets learn a simple mental strategy that can help you get whatever you want.Think back over your life now. Remember some time when you felt really successful, perhaps you made a touchdown, maybe it is when your spouse said yes to marriage, maybe you got an A on a test. It may be as simple as your mother giving you a hug and saying how proud she was of you.

Anything will work as long as you felt really good about yourself. As you imagine that event try to make the mental picture as sharp as you can. See the colors, smell any smells that might have been present hear the sounds, make that memory as sharp as you are able. Allow yourself to feel the emotions you felt. Feel that feeling of pride and accomplishment! Make those feelings as strong as you can! Some people like to make that positive experience into a circle in their minds then step into that circle.

However you handle your success memory you now need to name it. As you are fully immersed in that success memory you might say, "I'm a winner" or simply "success" Agree with your self that you will re-enter this great feeling or state whenever you say your key word to yourself. Now you have anchored a success state in your mind. Most people can have two or more of these prepared success anchors available to them at all times. Now think about your desired behavioral change and fire that anchor for success.

Imagine yourself as a non-smoker and as you do, fire that success state. In effect what you are doing is overlaying that state of success, self-esteem, accomplishment on to your new goal! Can you see how powerful this is? Practice this at least three times a day and you'll probably find real success this year with your resolutions..

We all know that olive oil is wonderful and healthy for us to cook with, but what about its other uses? Truthfully, olive oil is another main ingredient in several beauty products you can buy on the shelf. See for yourself how you can make your own skin cocktails and save a little money at the same time. 1. A mixture of 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup vinegar, & 1/4 cup water used as a night cream will make your skin glow. The olive oil softens and moisturizes and the vinegar lightens discolorations, kills bacteria and loosens dead skin cells.

Splash water on your face before applying. 2. Olive oil can be used as cleansing cream if your skin is dry. 3. For a facial, wet face thoroughly, then massage olive oil into your skin.

Use about a half teaspoon of sugar and scrub your face with that, then wipe off gently with a warm, wet cloth until the sugar is all gone. 4. Use olive oil on your feet with clean white cotton socks. Helps to soften up you feet and it absorbs better than baby oil. 5.

It seems when you pour olive oil out there is always a drip, so wipe it up with your hand and rub it in to your elbows. Wonderful softening properties.6. Use olive oil as bath oil. Two to three tablespoons will do the trick. 7.

Use olive oil for your hair. Not only does it condition, but it also gets rid of the frizz. Put a small drop into your palm & then rub both hands together & apply it to dry hair. Just a few of the many creative uses for olive oil in your skin care routine. Not only is it cheap, but it will go alot further than most products you can buy.

Have fun and be creative..

Answering email questions about toenail fungus or heel pain has become part of Dr. Hurless' daily routine. Recently moving into a state of the art medical facility in Thousand Oaks, California, Dr. Hurless had the opportunity to take his practice "world wide" utilizing paperless office systems and the internet. One thing that separates Dr.

Hurless from most podiatrists is his completely paperless office. No charts, No files...essentially everything including most billing is done electronically. This saves time and money. "When an existing patient comes into our office, all I have to do is click on my tablet and the patients photo and entire history is pulled up...this gives me more time to spend with my patients, they like it, and I like it." This makes the ease of consulting with other doctors any where in the country so simple. "I can send a complete patient chart and x-rays electronically in minutes to a collegue in New York."Another unique aspect that Dr.

Hurless offers his patients is online dispensing of products and email contact. At first, he did this so that his elderly patients wouldn't have to come into the office to pick up additional products, they could just call or order online. "Saving people time is very important in this day and age." The email access to the doctor is great because alot of people leave the office and may forget something the Doctor told them, if they email him, he answers all emails personally. " It was very difficult during the day to accept patient phone calls, and then calling back, playing the phone tag game...the emails I can see come up, and I usually can answer them very quicky - my patients love this".Dr. Hurless' website http://www.healthyfeetstore.com started out for local patients only but soon launched into a full e-commerce business.

There are a few professional foot information websites out there, but this website has information and doctor recommended foot and ankle products. Recently, due to demand, Dr. Hurless has added shoes, socks and sandals. On the website there is an "ask the podiatrist" section, where Dr. Hurless gets approximately 25 emails a week from all over the world. "Do people email me questions before they see their Doctor? Maybe, but if I can offer them general information, locate a local podiatrist, and if they purchase products from my site, at least I know that they work, and people aren't going through hundreds of dollars on non-effective products." "Utilizing today's technologies has launched my practice into a world wide business.

I love treating patients, I love making peoples feet hurt less, I guess I just love what I do." Dr. Hurless is located in Thousand Oaks, CA. His office phone number is 805-496-2383 and his email address is e-mail protected from spam bots..

Now, are you ready for the REAL TRUTH about selling on eBay? It's simple; don't list too many items for sale using their auction format. Instead, set up one of their stores. The cost starts at just $15.95 per month. Why is this a good idea? Let's do the math: If you list an item for sale using the auction format, the cost is anywhere from $.35 on up to several dollars PER AUCTION. What's worse is that the auctions are only good for 3, 5, 7, or 10 days.

BETTER WAY: Sell the item in your eBay store. The listing price is just 2 or 3 cents per item...and get this...They're good for a FULL 30 days! For example, I recently sold a $500 item that I listed in my eBay store. The listing cost me a whopping 3 cents! The same item, if I'd sold it using the auction format, would have cost me several dollars! Using eBay's Auction format to list 500 items at a minimum of $.35 each = $175.00 (and these are only good for 7 days each so you'd have to list them 4 times each per month) $175 x 4 = $700.00 List the same 500 items in your eBay store @ just $.03 each = $15 + the $15.95 monthly store fee = $30.95 and they are listed for a full 30 days each! You save $669.05 per month! HOLY SMOKES! I'm sure you can clearly see the benefit here. Of course you will want to sell a few CHEAP items using the auction format to try to generate interest & drive customers to your eBay store where they will buy MORE from you. Make sure every auction listing contains a link to your eBay store & TELL THE CUSTOMER TO VISIT YOUR STORE.

Sell 10 or so of your 3 or 4 or 5 dollar items as auctions...just enough to get some traffic to your store. Now, what is it that the REALLY successful PowerSellers do? They maximize the "back-end" sale. What this means to you is that once a customer has bought from you, the hard part is over. Now having done business with you, they TRUST you to deliver the goods. You MUST & I REPEAT, MUST try to get that customer to buy again & again.

Never, ever, send a package to a customer without including a sales flyer, catalog or some other special offer in the package to try to entice them to make another purchase. Email them a special offer every week or so. You NEED repeat customers. Going after the lone, one-time sale is a losing battle. You will not be successful unless you get them to buy again & again & do this with every person you deal with.

Send a thank-you note via postal mail or eMail to every customer & use that opportunity to SELL THEM SOMETHING ELSE. Another tip: Sell CONSUMABLE items. You know, stuff that people need to order fairly often. Like socks, t-shirts, work gloves, food items, towels & linens, printer ink cartridges, sell shipping materials to other eBay sellers. You will get REPEAT orders from these customers for months and even years to come..

There is a nip in the air and the Holiday season is here! It is a season full of get-togethers and gift exchanges, but when it is all over, how do you feel? For many people, this can be a big let down. You go to put everything away and realize that you didn't have any room before the holiday, so where are you going to put anything new you got. Here are some tips to help you enjoy the holiday season a little more (during and after). Clean out your closets, drawers and toy boxes now Spend sometime going through your closets, drawers and toy boxes before the holiday. Take the gently used items that you no longer love and share them with those who will by donating them to charitable organizations.

Donate these items prior to the end of the year so that you can get the tax deduction. Throw out broken toys or well-worn clothing. If you are unsure about an item, place it in a box to put away and mark the box with the date. Mark on your calendar when to go through the box again (6 months? One year?). If you haven't needed it during that time, donate it.

All this effort before the holiday arrives will help you keep that holiday cheer going a little longer after the excitement dies down and you get organized for the new year. Make a list and check it twice For many years, my family has made wish lists that we exchange with each other. Often when I tell people that, they think it is very greedy on our part or that we are taking the fun out of the holiday. Actually I believe it is very practical and allows everyone to enjoy the season a little more! There are certain people I will always exchange gifts with. With a list, they can be more focused with their time and enjoy shopping, which can be a gift in itself during this hectic season.

I will get something I won't have to consider returning or not know what to do with and they will get to see me enjoy their gift. So as you are cleaning out your house, make a list of the items you need. It could be a blue sweater that will go with a pair of pants hanging unworn in your closet. It could be something to finish a collection or help you display your collection. It could be something to replace a broken toy or gadget.

Make sure if you put the item on the list, you really would want it and use it. Socks may not seem like a fun gift to give to your father, but he may appreciate them more if that is what he needs. The lists from my family have become a standard in my PDA so that as other celebrations come around, I can continue to give them something they will use and enjoy. Your list is also good for after the holidays to use as your own shopping list for the certain items that you really feel you need, but didn't get and perhaps can now get at the after-holiday sales. Besides the tangible items, consider asking for or giving something that doesn't require permanent storage space such as: Purchase movie or theater tickets and include an offer to baby sit or to go with them Prepare a box of easy to make food for a college student or add a small binder with your favorite recipes and include some of the ingredients for someone newly on their own.

Register them for a class to explore a new hobby they have been talking about Start a new magazine subscription or renew their favorite Establish a membership to a museum (even if it is only a short-term trial) Offer to run an errand or do something around the home of an elderly neighbor or relative. Bake a batch of holiday cookies for the person who never seems to get some baked No matter what it is, come up with fun ways to package the item. You will find the gifts are more appreciated because you made the effort to think about what they would really like and enjoy. Establish a tradition You may be decorating your home, baking cookies and deciding what gifts to buy for the special people in your life, but there are some people who are not eagerly awaiting this special time. They are dreading telling their children they won't be getting that wanted toy and there won't be a special meal.

During the holiday season many organizations are looking for donated items such as never been worn clothing (you know those items with the tags still on them hanging in your closet) or gently used items to give to those less fortunate. They are looking for food to share and people to help deliver or prepare that food. Consider starting a new tradition of giving and give a gift where you can help someone else experience the joy of the season. You may find that your wish list and that of your family begins to reflect what is truly important in the season of giving! Packing Up As you are taking the trimmings down after the holiday is over, weed through them and determine if you want or need them all. When they are all out, does it feel festive or cluttered? Are any of them broken? Can they be fixed? Take the time to fix them now or throw them out so that next year, you are only putting out your favorite things.

Also many stores offer colored storage bins that can help you find the right containers easily the following year. From start to finish, don't let clutter overwhelm the season. Do your best to keep things neat by doing a quick 15-minute pick up every day. Enjoy the season and all the blessings that are around you. ?2004 Caroline Potter.

Baby shower cakes are terrific centerpieces for showers. Guests always laugh when they see one and the expectant mom is thrilled to receive a very useful gift. They're also called diaper cakes because diapers are the main ingredient. It is quite easy to make one. Check out the detailed instructions below.

The ingredients for your baby shower cakeHere's the list of items you need for your cake:

Naturally, you'll need disposable diapers. How many? Assuming you want to make a medium size diaper cake, you'll need around 45 -- 55. You can't be sure of exactly how many until you make the cake. Any diapers left over can always be handed over to mommy-to-be.
Your baby shower cake needs a base.

Get a platter of metal, cardboard, or other materials that are reasonably stiff. Choose one that's about 14" -- 16".
Buy a 10 foot length of 1" wide ribbon and about 60 to 80 feet of narrower ribbon. The latter is for tying individual diapers into rolls.
Every diaper cake needs a focal point.

The most commonly used one is a baby bottle.
Rather than use an empty baby bottle, fill it with something edible. You could buy or make small chocolates shaped like various baby items, packed individually. Candies are another possible choice.
Get other cute, useful items for babies.

Such as pacifiers, teething rings, bibs, socks, baby hair brushes, small sized soap and shampoo and so on.
Procure good quality, clear cellophane to provide the final wrapping. Get additional ribbons for tying bows at the top of the cellophane wrapping, if you so prefer.
Have adhesive tape available.
Baking the diaper cake -- putting it all togetherWhile making a baby shower cake is quite easy, it does require a bit of patience.

But the end result is certainly worth it! Plus the fact that you made it yourself creates a terrific impact. While following through these instructions, have someone help you. It will get done faster. The first thing to do is to tie each diaper individually into a roll. Cut a foot length of the narrow ribbon.

Roll up a diaper and secure it by tying the ribbon around it. Do the same for all remaining diapers. If you're working alone, you may want to spread this out over more than one sitting. Next, you'll create three tiers. You can vary the number of tiers to make a cake of the size you prefer.

We'll make the top tier first, which is the smallest. Fill the baby bottle with wrapped chocolates, candies or whatever other item you've obtained. Arrange rolled diapers around the bottle. You'll use about 5 -- 7 diapers; place them around the bottle in a standing position. Pack them tightly.

Secure the diapers into place by tying a length of narrow ribbon around them. That completes the top tier. Next, create the middle tier using about 13 -- 18 diapers. Make a small circle of about 5 -- 8 diapers and tie them together like you did above. Then stand 13 -- 18 diapers in a circle around this smaller circle; secure them by tying a ribbon around them.

This completes the middle tier of your cake. To make the bottom tier, just repeat this process with about 25 -- 35 diapers. Finishing the perfect baby shower cakeYou're well on your way to making the perfect cake! By now, you should be able to anticipate the thrill of presenting it to mommy! The next step is to secure the bottom tier onto the platter. Do this with pieces of adhesive tape. Don't use too much tape, because then the diapers become unusable.

Next, fix the other two layers similarly one on top of the other. The tier with the bottle at the center goes on top, of course. Put in all those adorable baby items you bought -- pacifiers, hair brush, teething ring, etc. Fix all of these onto the cake. How? Tuck them into the ribbons you used to secure each tier.

Use additional ribbons if necessary. And now, for the grand finale!Transform your baby shower cake into a magical thing of beauty by using cellophane and ribbons. Spread a cellophane sheet on a flat surface, place the cake in the center. Gather up the edges of the cellophane and bunch it up artistically at the top (well, with as much art as you can manage -- it will look great anyway!). Use ribbons to tie a cute bow.

Now step back, and admire your creation! And be prepared for oohs and aahs from mom-to-be and guests at the baby shower!.

There is actually a bit of controversy about this question. Some pediatricians recommend that your baby not wear shoes until at least 15 months of age. Others feel that a child should start to wear shoes as soon as they're walking. However, you have to consider where your baby is walking. If they are cruising around your own home, then there is usually no need for shoes.

But what about outdoors? Obviously you wouldn't want your child running around barefoot on cement or in the dirt. Babies should be wearing a firm shoe in this case to prevent injuries (and dirty socks). Shoes are also protection from sunburn, cold weather, scratches and bumps. Just make sure that when your baby has the opportunity to go barefoot, let them. And don't keep shoes on for too long at a time.If you do purchase outdoor shoes for your baby, make sure they fit properly.

Their tiny toes should not be cramped. Also, make sure they are flexible enough that their feet can still wiggle in them. Mothers and pediatricians recommend soft soled shoes or booties.Whatever you decide to do, make sure it's for the best interest of your child. Don't make them wear shoes all the time for the sake of looking cute. Barefoot is best at home, and when they are outdoors, make sure they have a soft sole for the most natural fit..

A little bit of pre-knowledge can go a long way on an African safari trip. Here are ten indispensable tips that will improve your own safari experience greatly.1. Take the early morning drives on safari even thought that often means getting up while it's still dark. You'll be very glad you did because your wildlife sightings will improve. The animals are a lot more active in the early morning and late evening because it is cooler and the nocturnal species are either getting up or going to bed so your chances of spotting them are generally much better.

2. A safari is not only about the big game. Take enjoyment from the surroundings and all the wildlife you see because if you turn it into a "big five" tick list exercise you might be disappointed. There are a multitude of insects, birds and smaller creatures that can be just as interesting if you take the time to look and find out more.3. A pair of good quality binoculars is absolutely indispensable on a safari so make sure you take your own with.

Some safari companies do provide them but they might be a little worse for wear after a lot of use and it can be frustrating to have to pass them along to the next person when you actually still want to look at that lion stalking it's prey.4. Wear insect repellent in the evenings to ward of those pesky mosquitoes and make sure you leave as little skin exposed as possible by wearing long trousers, long sleeved shirts and socks to cover the ankles. During the day they are a lot less active so you don't have to worry about them then.5. Any good safari operator will have some form of medication available but you might consider taking some of your own with on a "just in case" basis: Anti malarial pills, anti-diarrhoea medicine, motion sickness medication if you suffer from this, mosquito repellent and sunscreen.6. If you are taking photos using film, remember to bring at least two rolls for each day that you will be on safari and bring spare batteries for your camera because they will go flat at the worst times and you don't want to miss those once in a lifetime photo opportunities because of that.

You should be able to recharge batteries in most safari areas. Electricity in Africa is 220 - 240V AC50HZ. 7. When it comes to lions, a lot of patience is called for because they spend most of their time during the day asleep. But if you watch them for awhile you might be rewarded by an impromptu hunt or the appearance of cubs from the undergrowth or a similar drama.

Patience is the watchword here.8. Night drives on safari are a great opportunity to see the nocturnal animals that you will never see during the day but remember that the powerful spotlight which illuminates the surrounding bush and the glowing eyes also attracts a lot of insects so you might think twice before volunteering to hold it. 9. Generally the dry season is a time when you will be much more successful at spotting game because the vegetation is sparse and the wildlife is forced to congregate in the areas where there is still surface water available.10. It's not uncommon for safari vehicles to break down because most of the roads are dirt tracks and the cars take a pounding every day.

Any company worth their salt should be carrying spares and the driver or guide should have some mechanical experience..

It's almost impossible to tell your Valentine that his or her feet are a turn-off. So what do you do? How about buying a basket or travel bag of personal care products (either super feminine or super manly) into which you have discreetly placed a few foot care products under the more exciting items? Try body scrubs such as Philosophy's The Gingerbread Man Hot Salt Scrub or Victoria's Secret cologne. Anything from Bath and Body Works will do! Then tuck in the center some products for feet. There are attractive pedicure kits and some new products that do wonders for discolored nails and dry or callused feet.At the top of our list are products from Xenna Corporation. Natural NonyX? Nail Gel works wonders for yellow, discolored nails, and its new Callex? Ointment uses the power of natural plant enzymes to moisturize and exfoliate rough, flaking skin from heels and feet.

Carol J. Buck, CEO of Xenna Corporation, says, "I hear from many individuals who have suffered with being embarrassed about how their feet look for years. It is often a wife or husband who takes the initiative to help their spouse find a solution. Wearing sandals again, or going to the beach and pool this summer without the embarrassment of yellow, discolored toenails or rough, cracked heels is easy to attain with a few changes to one's morning routine!"Recommended by podiatrists around the country, NonyX Nail Gel rids nails of their yellow or dark discoloration by exfoliating the source of the problem - keratin debris buildup under the nail. Dark, yellow or thick keratin debris can build up under nails over time, causing them to lose their clear, healthy-looking appearance.

Patented NonyX Gel softens, breaks down and then clears out this unattractive keratin debris using natural ethanoic acid. NonyX Gel is also safe for diabetic use.Comments from users of NonyX Gel may be what your Valentine is really thinking: "My husband's toes were terrible looking but they have already started to change?I know that ugly toenails is such a small thing to worry about but we do because it is so ugly." "My husband is using NonyX and it's doing wonders." "My husband had this ugly toenail for 25 years and now, since using NonyX, it's clearing up beautifully." "Nonyx Gel is a great product! My husband bought a bottle and his nails are clearing up. We started sharing his bottle."According to Dr. Jack Morgan, a leading California podiatrist and podiatric surgeon, "Whether young or old, my patients care very much about the appearance of their feet. When a person's feet are unattractive to the opposite sex, it can dramatically affect their self-confidence." He adds, "I've had patients who even slept with their socks on.

Sometimes a spouse will be asked to sleep with socks on, to prevent the scratching that can come from unattractive, thick toenails."A recent clinical study confirmed NonyX Nail Gel significantly improves toenail color and clarity by exfoliating yellowing keratin debris from under the nail, and is safe for use by diabetics.

(NC)-With approximately 42,000 mosquitoes for every person in Ontario, most of us spend a great deal of our summers swatting away these pesky insects. Protecting yourself against mosquitoes will not only make your summer more enjoyable, it will help prevent you and your family from getting annoying and sometimes dangerous bug bites. As a family physician, I recommend the following tips for a bug free summer.

Stay Scent-Free. Avoid using scented soaps, lotions and shampoos.
Gear Up.

Cover your skin as completely as possible. This may be challenging by the beach, but when possible wear long sleeves, pants and socks.
Be Colour Conscious. Mosquitoes are attracted to blue, so avoid this colour and stick to neutral colours.
Use Repellent. Repellents containing DEET are most effective for areas with heavy mosquito or tick infestation.

Alternative Repellents. When applied frequently, citronella-based repellents can provide the same bug protection as products containing low concentrations of DEET. I recommend Natrapel?, which contains 10 percent citronella to ward off bugs for up to two hours.
Meal Time. Be alert to the time of day when certain insects are most active such as dawn and twilight.

Check Point. Upon returning indoors, check your children and yourself for bites.
Treatment. Sunburn and bite treatment products should be included in every outdoor adventurer's travel kit.
Dr. Brian Aw is a general practitioner specializing in travel medicine. For more tips on bug bite prevention and product information visit: www.tendercorp.com/canada..
